What is SoftVote?

SoftVote is the latest innovation from Enigma Software Group. It is an Internet-based system, that allows Americans to voice their opinions on key issues. Our first release is on the Presidential Poll. It allows you to say who you would vote for and change your opinion at any point in time. It also gives you up-to-the-second updates of where our Internet poll stands.

How does it know that I am an American?

When you place or update a vote IP address is checked. If you are voting from an IP address that is outside of the United States , the vote will not register. Therefore all votes that we receive will come from computers that are located within the United States .

How does it prevent people from cheating the system?

Enigma has designed SoftVote with certain anti-cheat precautions. Each computer is uniquely identified through a unique ID created by SoftVote on installation. When you send your vote through our system it ties your vote to an entry that we create in our database that is unique to your machine. This information is used for database accuracy control purposes only. We do not connect this information to any personal data about you. We do not share your unique identifying information with any third party company.

What happens if I push the vote button 100 times?

It will only count as one vote. You may change your selected candidate at any time. However, if you change your candidate your one vote will be subtracted from your previous vote and added to your new selection.

How do I make a vote?

Select your candidate from the dropdown menu and then press the 'VOTE' button.

How do I change my vote?

If you would like to change your vote, move your mouse over to the drop-down arrow. Select a new candidate and hit the 'VOTE' button.

How do I e-mail SoftVote to a friend?

Click on the e-mail to a friend button; enter your name, e-mail and your friends e-mail. You may also enter an optional personal message.

Does Enigma Store my e-mail?

Your e-mail and your friend's e-mail address are used strictly for the purpose of sending your message. Enigma does not resell, spam, or store your e-mail address.

What happens if I am a US citizen but vote from outside of the U.S.?

Your vote will not count. SoftVote will only allow you to vote from within the United States.

Is it possible to cheat the SoftVote system?

We have implemented several controls making it very difficult for anyone to cheat our system. That being said, there is no Internet system that is impossible to cheat, nor is there a poll that is 100% accurate.

How do I download SoftVote?

Go to the Internet address www.softvote.com, click on the 'VOTE NOW!' button underneath the picture of the SoftVote box. Follow the download instructions.

Do I need to be connected to the Internet to use SoftVote?

An active Internet connection is required in order to vote, update, or email SoftVote to your friends.

How can I move the map on my screen?
Place the mouse cursor on the map, left click and hold mouse left button and then you will be able to drag the map around the screen. To drop the map in a specific location of your screen, release the left button of the mouse.

Where can I find Popular Vote results?

Popular Vote results can be found in 2 different places in the SoftVote Program. The main window shows the results for the entire country and right clicking each state shows you the local results.

What is Popular Vote?
Popular vote is the sum of all the votes from anyone who is 18 years of age, a citizen of the U.S. and meets the residency requirements of his or her state, made towards one candidate.

What is Electoral Vote?

Electoral Vote is the sum of all the votes from each Electoral College from all the state towards one candidate.

How do I update the SoftVote results?

SoftVote will update poll results automatically when you first start the application, as well as at a pre-set interval. To set the update interval, right click on the SoftVote control panel, and select how frequently you would like to check for updates. You can also manually refresh the SoftVote information at any time, by simply clicking the ‘UPDATE’ button in the control panel. Remember that you must be connected to the Internet for the update feature to work.
